⭐️ Planning Approval for Additional Flats

Another happy client, another planning approval. Construction of two floors on top of existing part three storey, one floor on part four storey building to create six additional self-contained residential units including provision of shared rooftop amenity spaces; and associated internal and external alterations.

Although submitted back in November 2024, Ealing Council required numerous reports to support this application and some carefully considered negotiation with the planning consultant Neil Jones (www.nljonesplanning.com) – but they have today Granted with some conditions.

⭐️ Planning Approval for Detached House

Another happy client, another planning approval. This time creating a new 4 bed detached house in Lytchett Matravers. We originally obtained planning approval on this site back in 2022, on behalf of a local developer. The site has since been sold to a private client and they wanted to increase the size of the new build and put their own style into the layout. Working with DHPC Planning Consultants, a variation of condition application was submitted and approval granted earlier this week. Look forward to seeing this one going up, in a road where 3 other detached houses designed by us have already been built.

Bats in the Attic

May 8th, 2025

We went out to this site in the beautiful village of Fontmell back in February to meet with the client and discuss repair works to the detached stables barn accommodation, that had sadly suffered some severe fire damage in December. Thankfully no-one was injured, but the northern end of the building suffered damage, to the roof, Timber A Frames and timber floor.

Repair works started on site at the beginning of April, and I popped back out to meet the Ecologist, Client and Builder last week to see progress. Fascinating talking to the ecologist about the different bats in the area, and interesting to learn about all the procedures we had to have in place, and mitigation measures in line with requirements from Annex D of the licensing process, following a non-licence method statement and under supervision of a suitably qualified ecologist. Let’s hope that all the efforts we are making in the repair works will encourage the bats to return once works are complete.

Throwback Thursday – RNLI Portishead

Portishead RNLI Lifeboat Station

On 5th April 2013, we were granted planning permission for the demolition of the old Masonic Lodge and the construction of a new Lifeboat Station, launch ramp, landscaping, and associated works on behalf of the RNLI. The site, located in the Barbican area of Portishead, sits right beside the Bristol Channel estuary and the historic Portishead Pier.

This milestone followed extensive feasibility studies and pre-application work dating back to 2011. The project went out to tender in October 2013, and by April 2015—exactly ten years ago this week—construction was successfully completed.

It was an incredibly rewarding, though intense and time-consuming project. Its success was only possible thanks to the dedication of a fantastic team of consultants, specialists, and a highly capable contractor. A true team effort, and another happy client. From vision to reality.

Somerset – New Housing Development

Excited to see this project officially break ground! Planning approval was secured in 2023 for the demolition of an existing pub and outbuildings, making way for 7 new homes complete with associated access and parking.

We’re proud to be retained as Principal Designer for this timber frame development, which kicked off last week with demolition and site preparation now underway.

Planning Approval for Detached Bungalow

Another happy client, another planning approval. This time creating a new 2 bed detached bungalow in Lytchett Matravers. This has been a lengthy planning application process, some 9 months from time of registration, and following a refusal for a similar scheme back in 2022. We carefully considered all reasons for refusal, and made amendments to the scheme, and addressed the BNG and Nitrates policies. A lot of effort for a small bungalow, but we got there through our careful and considered approach, negotiation skills and management.

Planning Approval for 2 new detached houses

Planning Approval for 2 new detached houses

Another happy client, another planning approval. This time creating 2 new 4 bed, 1400sqft detached houses in North Dorset. This has been a lengthy planning application process, some 18 months from time of registration. We have needed detailed lighting strategy reports, detailed slow worm and bat surveys, and negotiations over the Biodiversity Net gain. All having to be carefully designed around the ecological requirements of the site and detailed approval from Natural England. But, we got there through our careful and considered approach, negotiation skills and management.

Planning Approval North Dorset

Planning Approval

Another happy client, another planning approval. This time creating a new 3 bed, 1000sqft detached house in North Dorset. Thanks to Dorset Council for turning this one round quickly. This was a Variation of Condition Application, seeking approval for Removal or Variation of a Condition following Grant of Planning Permission. Our client purchased this site with a planning permission for a new dwelling. But there were some changes requested to the original approved layout, to make the scheme more viable, and property more saleable in line with current market fluctuations and requirements. The changes also allowed us to improve the parking/turning arrangements on site for vehicles, making access/egress safer.
